4 StarsThe worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires...
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside--so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I'd been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession...
Selena's Thoughts; So before I started reading this I got a few messages from friends telling me they felt a little let down after reading EWY. So to say I was a little nervous to read is an understatement.
Overall, I was pretty satisfied but I think maybe I can see why these few friends were disappointed. I will explain.... As far as the Gideon and Eva go they are very much in love and they are finally able to see that in each other. Eva knows Gideon is with her 100% and he would do anything to keep her. Eva is finally speaking up and letting Gideon know what her insecurities are and they are talking through them. I LOVE this about the book. Seeing the to of them finally working toward having a healthy relationship. I have always had a huge issue with the fact that they use sex as a coping mechanism. They never TALK about anything. But I think we start to see them come away from this just a tiny bit in this book. The sex scenes are hot (hello it is Gideon) and the story moves along at a pretty good pace.
I think the problem lies in the fact that the story finds that pace and it never veers from it. There is no climax to the story (ok so there are lots of 'climaxes' but you know what I mean). I feel like the story moves along until it just ends. Yes it kept me interested, yes I read it without ever getting bored but I never had the - OH MY GOD eeeeeeeek, what is happening!! - feeling while reading. There was not really a conflict in this book and the one that is there just really doesn't hold water. It was just a little blah.
However, all that being said I think lovers of this series will enjoy it as I did, even if only because you get some quality time with characters you love.
