Slow Twitch by Liz Reinhardt

5 Stars

(Brenna Blixen book 3)

Summer scatters three friends, ties them back together, and makes them question who they have been and who they want to be in the future.

Brenna expected to soak up the knowledge of great Irish writers at her summer workshop in Dublin. But there are some things even the best books can't teach you, and a passionate new friend and an old familiar full of surprises challenge Brenna to follow her heart. By the time she's back in the States, she can't wait to throw herself back into Jake's arms and tell him exactly what he means to her.

She puts the brakes on that plan when it becomes clear that Jake may not be ready to shoulder any more. He visits his family's palatial home in the mountains of New York, and is exposed to all the possibilities a life surrounded by his pampered relatives and washed in money would hold for him. But is it possible to accept so much and not change who you are? Jake has to face the reality that changing sometimes means losing things...but how much is he willing to put on the line?

Saxon has been thrust into a life of drudgery and indentured service he never dreamed of after a brush with the law puts him on family-enforced probation. Who would have thought Sussex County's resident bad-ass layabout would fall head-over-heels in love with a girl, an elderly aunt, and a shot at a whole new life. The problem is, he's a Maclean to his marrow, and it's in his blood to be a selfish screw-up. Isn't it?

Brenna, Jake, and Saxon spend one summer growing up, working things out, and doing their best to weather the changes that get thrown their way. But can the love and friendships of one amazing summer last through the ups and downs of the coming years? description

My thoughts before reading;  I am seriously nervous to read this book. I am scared that it will not go how I want and I will be crushed. To say I have gotten emotionally involved with this series is just tad bit of an understatement.........

What about thinking about it a lot?

Brenna Blixen has the perfect boyfriend. He's sweet, sexy, loyal, and sure that Brenna is the best thing that's ever happened to him. But being the perfect girlfriend isn't as easy as Brenna thought it would be, and the pressure that comes with trying to be Jake's everything is beginning to weigh on her. When her mother surprises her with a trip to Paris over winter break, she's torn. She anticipated spending her vacation snuggling with Jake Kelly, ice-skating, drinking cocoa, and relaxing...but what girl in her right mind would turn down a trip to Paris?

Things only get more confusing when she winds up unexpectedly and unavoidably thrown into Saxon Maclean's arms in the City of Lights. Far away from the comfort and stability she finds at Jake's side, Brenna faces down the feelings that have been swirling through her since the day she laid eyes on Saxon. Is it fair for her to call herself Jake's girlfriend when she has so many unresolved feelings about someone else?

Brenna is determined to figure it all out, even if it means making some of the hardest decisions of her entire life. She also learns that every single thing she does has rippling repercussions, some that fill her with total regret. My thoughts before reading; Well, Heeello there Mr Hottie cover model, and what is your little name??? Like seriously, I can not wait to start this book. Double Clutch by Liz Reinhardt

5 Stars

(A Brenna Blixen Novel 1)

What happens when you fall for the perfect one day?
Brenna Blixen spent her freshman year homeschooling in Denmark; now that she's back in the States, she's determined to make her sophomore year unforgettable. And by unforgettable, she imagined awesome classes, fun friendships, and maybe a little romance.
What she got was a whole lot of romance, and all at once.
The same day that dark, brooding Saxon Maclean charmed her with his killer good looks and whip-smart wit, Jake Kelly stole her breath away with his heart-wrenching smile and intelligent, thoughtful focus.
But Saxon is a proud player who makes it clear that he doesn't know why he can't get Brenna off of his mind and out of his system, and Jake's sweet and humble attitude hides a secret past life that might be darker and more complex than Brenna is willing to deal with.
Complicating the matter is the fact that Saxon and Jake were once best friends and are now arch-enemies...and the more Brenna finds out about their connection to each other, the more intrigued and worried she becomes.
Between keeping the peace with her lovingly over-protective parents, designing t-shirts for her high school's rising punk band, keeping up her grades in classes split between academic and technical high school, and running the track like a maniac, Brenna has enough to worry about without juggling two guys who make her heart thud and drive her crazy all at once.
She has to make a choice, but how is she supposed to do that when giving her heart to one of them might mean breaking the other's? description

My thoughts before reading; This was a recommendation by a book group friend. The never seem to let me down so here goes nothing!!!

Flutter by Amanda Hocking

4 Stars

(My Blood Approves book 3)

Being undead doesn't make life any easier for Alice Bonham.

Her younger brother's love life is heating up, while hers is... more complicated. Mae is falling apart, her best friend Jane is addicted to vampire bites, and if Alice doesn't get her bloodlust under control, someone will end up dead.

Alice volunteers for a rescue mission with Ezra. But going up against a pack of rabid vampires might be too much, even for him. description

My thoughts before reading; I probably wouldn't have started reading this one right after Fate, but, she left me with a cliffhanger..... I am such a sucker.

My after thoughts; FINALLY!!! By far my favorite book of the series so far. I could not help but smile because while reading I felt like everything I stated about what the last books needed was there sitting in front of me. I wanted to see her relationships with Peter and Jack get more focus, DONE. I wanted to see her take a conflict in the story and stick with it, really make it pop, DONE. Now I want her to take what she did with this one and make me feel even better after I read the net one........

Happy Reading!! :-)

Worse still, she's not even sure what she wants with Peter. When tragedy happens, Alice finds herself struggling with a terrible choice. Her decision has consequences that reach farther than she'd ever imagined... description

My thoughts before reading;  I really enjoyed book 1 contrary to some bad reviews. I am looking forward to seeing how the story continues......

Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec

5+ Stars

Claire is a twenty-something, single mom that grudgingly helps her best friend sell sex toys while she attempts to make enough money to start her own business to give her foul-mouthed, but extremely loveable (when he's asleep) toddler a better life.
When Carter, the one-night-stand from her past that changed her life forever, shows up in her hometown bar without any recollection of her besides her unique chocolate scent, Claire will make it a point that he remembers her this time.
With Carter's undisguised shock at suddenly finding out he has a four-year-old son and Claire's panic that her stretch marks and slim to none bedroom experience will send the man of her dreams heading for the hills, the pair will do whatever they can to get their happily ever after. description

Warning: contains explicit sex, profanity and enough sarcasm to choke a horse.

My thoughts before reading; I have heard really great things about this book. Oh and, I just love when the description on Amazon has a little "warning" at the bottom hahaha........

My Blood Approves by Amanda Hocking

3.5 Stars

(My Blood Approves book 1)

Seventeen-year-old Alice Bonham's life feels out of control after she meets Jack. With his fondness for pink Chuck Taylors and New Wave hits aside, Jack's unlike anyone she's ever met. Then she meets his brother, Peter. His eyes pierce through her, and she can barely breathe when he's around. Even though he can't stand the sight of her, she's drawn to him. But falling for two very different guys isn't even the worst of her problems. Jack and Peter are vampires, and Alice finds herself caught between love and her own blood... description

My thoughts before reading; This is one of those books that caught my eye several months back on Goodreads. It has been sitting on my TBR list for a while and I thought maybe I should just read it already. This is another with mixed reviews and several even say it is a copycat version of Twilight. I am kinda nervous because I don't want to give out another poor review. But I keep telling myself I was drawn to it before I read the reviews so I should trust my gut....... *nervous gulp*

Leaping Hearts By JR Ward writing as Jessica Bird

4 Stars

Everyone thinks A. J. Sutherland is crazy to buy a rogue stallion that no rider or trainer has been able to tame. But if anybody has the hustle to make something out of that hell-raiser, it’s A. J. She can’t do it alone, however, so she goes after the great Devlin McCloud, an equestrian legend with a bad leg — and a worse attitude. Devlin recognizes a fighter when he sees one — and that horse isn’t a wallflower, either. Before he knows it, he’s got a wild stallion in his empty stable and a hotheaded, heavenly-bodied rider sleeping on his couch. But can he get all three of them through the championship in one piece? This passion he’s found with his rider is compromising training — and at this level of competition, any distraction is not just unprofessional but downright deadly.... description

My before thoughts; Since JR Ward is one of my favorite authors I am sort of ashamed that I have never read any of her Jessica Bird books. So I have decided to not only read all of her books but read them in the order if their original release. And for that reason I am using the original book cover.

Existence by Abbi Glines

3 Stars
(Existence book 1)

What happens when you're stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.
Pagan Moore doesn't cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.
Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn't let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he's dead.
Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn't realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.

He is Death and he's about to break all the rules. description

My thoughts before reading;  OK it is pretty obvious what drew me to this book. I mean come on LOOK at the cover.......right?? But I do have to point out that the similarities between this cover and the cover of Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout are crazy. And for argument sake I am adding the cover for it so you can see for yourself....

I swear it is even the same guy!!! Anyway, I am a little nervous because it has some mixed reviews so I have decided to see for myself.......

3.5 Stars

Done with being the world's biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn't expect was to sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won't let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of.

After he decides to take her under his wing he can't help but that notice that she fits very nicely in his life. Now the only left is to convince her that this is anything but a game. description

My thoughts before reading; Well clearly I was not drawn to this book by the cover art. I was browsing goodreads and found it. I read the description and browsed the rating and decided it might just be worth giving a shot. I was kinda lost as to what to read next so here I go.....

Flat Out Love by Jessica Park

4 Stars

Something is seriously off in the Watkins home. And Julie Seagle, college freshman, small-town Ohio transplant, and the newest resident of this Boston house, is determined to get to the bottom of it. When Julie's off-campus housing falls through, her mother's old college roommate, Erin Watkins, invites her to move in. The parents, Erin and Roger, are welcoming, but emotionally distant and academically driven to eccentric extremes. The middle child, Matt, is an MIT tech geek with a sweet side ... and the social skills of a spool of USB cable. The youngest, Celeste, is a frighteningly bright but freakishly fastidious 13-year-old who hauls around a life-sized cardboard cutout of her oldest brother almost everywhere she goes.

And there's that oldest brother, Finn: funny, gorgeous, smart, sensitive, almost emotionally available. Geographically? Definitely unavailable. That's because Finn is traveling the world and surfacing only for random Facebook chats, e-mails, and status updates. Before long, through late-night exchanges of disembodied text, he begins to stir something tender and silly and maybe even a little bit sexy in Julie's suddenly lonesome soul.

To Julie, the emotionally scrambled members of the Watkins family add up to something that ... well ... doesn't quite add up. Not until she forces a buried secret to the surface, eliciting a dramatic confrontation that threatens to tear the fragile Watkins family apart, does she get her answer.

Flat-Out Love comes complete with emails, Facebook status updates, and instant messages. Description

My thoughts before reading; A new addition to my book group mentioned this book to me. I told him I would check it out so I was off to goodreads to do just that. I read the description and it sounded fun, saw the 4.5 star rating so here I am.....
