Touch by Jus Accardo

5 Stars

(A Denazen Novel book 1)

When a strange boy tumbles down a river embankment and lands at her feet, seventeen-year-old adrenaline junkie Deznee Cross snatches the opportunity to piss off her father by bringing the mysterious hottie with ice blue eyes home.

Except there’s something off with Kale. He wears her shoes in the shower, is overly fascinated with things like DVDs and vases, and acts like she’ll turn to dust if he touches her. It’s not until Dez’s father shows up, wielding a gun and knowing more about Kale than he should, that Dez realizes there’s more to this boy—and her father’s “law firm”—than she realized.

Kale has been a prisoner of Denazen Corporation—an organization devoted to collecting “special” kids known as Sixes and using them as weapons—his entire life. And, oh yeah, his touch? It kills. The two team up with a group of rogue Sixes hellbent on taking down Denazen before they’re caught and her father discovers the biggest secret of all. A secret Dez has spent her life keeping safe.

A secret Kale will kill to protect.

My thoughts after reading; Books like this are why I will always come back to paranormal YA. It makes me remember everything I fell in love with about the genre.

Whenever I find myself at a loss on what to read I always scan my TBR on goodreads, pick out a YA that I have been meaning to read, and get totally lost in the feeling of being a teenager again. That feeling of first love and every so often that feeling of a lost love and what might have been, the complete and total naivety that the characters sometimes have. It makes you remember a time when homework was your biggest responsibility and summer vacation was the light at the end of the tunnel.

If you are a fan of this genre, Touch is a must-read. Once I started I couldn't stop, it took over my whole day and I was more than happy to allow it. Kale is a big ball of innocent wrapped up in HOTNESS. Dez is a total smart-ass, which I totally relate to. The parents (as per the norm for YA) are a hot mess and in some cases, a narcissitic tyrant!! You never know who you can trust, your enemies could be you friend and your friend could be your worst enemy. I will definitely be checking out the next book in this series.

Happy Reading!! :-)
