Qhuinn, son of no one, is used to being on his own. Disavowed from his bloodline, shunned by the aristocracy, he has finally found an identity as one of the most brutal fighters in the war against the Lessening Society. But his life is not complete. Even as the prospect of having a family of his own seems to be within reach, he is empty on the inside, his heart given to another....
Blay, after years of unrequited love, has moved on from his feelings for Qhuinn. And it’s about time: it seems Qhuinn has found his perfect match in a Chosen female, and they are going to have a young. It’s hard for Blay to see the new couple together, but building your life around a pipe dream is just a heartbreak waiting to happen. And Qhuinn needs to come to terms with some dark things before he can move forward…
Fate seems to have taken these vampire soldiers in different directions... but as the battle over the race’s throne intensifies, and new players on the scene in Caldwell create mortal danger for the Brotherhood, Qhuinn finally learns the true definition of courage, and two hearts who are meant to be together... finally become one.

My Thoughts: Wow a year was a long time to wait for this book! I was drooling and speculating and dreaming (YES Dreaming) about how this story would go. On many levels I kinda felt let down. I felt that I had been waiting for this HEA to happen for so long I wanted more LOVE and less angst. Well, cut to me heartbroken because it was not going how I envisioned these two coming together.
Now, what I loved.... there was so much more of the Brothers in this book, something I have felt lacking in the past few books. I have been sorely missing the ones who made us LOVE this series, so to see them coming back into the forefront was like manna from book heaven.
Let me touch on some things that I am having mixed feelings about. First, Assail; I am not sure yet how I feel about his character. Part of me feels like he is a rip off of Rehv and the other part feels like there may be more to him and I will really like him in the future. Second, Xcor; why must he melt my heart when he is with Layla and then thoroughly piss me off every other moment?? And last but not least, Trez/Selena; WHY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO I HAVE TO SHARE HER NAME????? Haha -- those who know me know that I have a huge love affair going with John Matthew. A good friend of mine who I met about a year and a half ago (on Ward's FB wall) also has a love affair going with JM. I loving refer to her as Frenemy and she in a very BRATTY way (in her imagination) mated me to Trez...wait for it.... a year and a half ago. A few days after we met we were fighting over JM and she said and I quote "You go be with Trez!" So as you can imagine she is now impossible to live with. So let me take this oppurtunity to say I SELENA WILLIAMS, do now and will forever love John Matthew aka Terrhor!!!
Ok back to the serious stuff. HELLO WRATH!!! Can you believe the next book is Wrath and will be called The King. So excited.... I am also floored that there will not be "Lover" in the title. So I am settling in for another year long wait for the next BDB book.
Happy Waiting!!!!
