Sharing my thoughts on what I am currently reading. What I can't wait to read and things I have read a million times. I might also throw in a thing or two I find around the web as well
Well we are down to ONE WEEK and I am getting super antsy. I can not wait to get Jesse in my hot little hands. So starting the countdown to Zero with a bit of a swoony sigh......
“He pecks my lips. I knew you were the one the second I laid eyes on you. The one to bring me back to life. ‘How did you know?’ He’s talking. I need to extract as much from him as possible. He looks me straight in the eyes. They are bursting with meaning. ‘Because my heart starting beating again.' He whispers.” -Jesse Ward Beneath This Man, Jodi Ellen Malpas
The worldwide phenomenon continues as Eva and Gideon face the demons of their pasts, and accept the consequences of their obsessive desires...
From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside--so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
No one knows how much he risked for me. How much I'd been threatened, or just how dark and desperate the shadow of our pasts would become.
Entwined by our secrets, we tried to defy the odds. We made our own rules and surrendered completely to the exquisite power of possession...
Selena's Thoughts; So before I started reading this I got a few messages from friends telling me they felt a little let down after reading EWY. So to say I was a little nervous to read is an understatement. Overall, I was pretty satisfied but I think maybe I can see why these few friends were disappointed. I will explain.... As far as the Gideon and Eva go they are very much in love and they are finally able to see that in each other. Eva knows Gideon is with her 100% and he would do anything to keep her. Eva is finally speaking up and letting Gideon know what her insecurities are and they are talking through them. I LOVE this about the book. Seeing the to of them finally working toward having a healthy relationship. I have always had a huge issue with the fact that they use sex as a coping mechanism. They never TALK about anything. But I think we start to see them come away from this just a tiny bit in this book. The sex scenes are hot (hello it is Gideon) and the story moves along at a pretty good pace. I think the problem lies in the fact that the story finds that pace and it never veers from it. There is no climax to the story (ok so there are lots of 'climaxes' but you know what I mean). I feel like the story moves along until it just ends. Yes it kept me interested, yes I read it without ever getting bored but I never had the - OH MY GOD eeeeeeeek, what is happening!! - feeling while reading. There was not really a conflict in this book and the one that is there just really doesn't hold water. It was just a little blah. However, all that being said I think lovers of this series will enjoy it as I did, even if only because you get some quality time with characters you love. Happy Reading!!
I have never been more in love with another book character in my life!!! Well that isn't completely true but my other book love is a Vampire (No, not the sparkly one) ..... different genres so I can totally have them BOTH!!!
“The sex is just sex. I can't get close enough to you. The control is because I'm frightened to death that something will happen to you...that you'll be taken away from me. I've waited too long for you, Ava. I'll do anything to keep you safe. I've lived a life with little control or care. Believe me, I need you..please...please don't leave me.” Jesse Ward- This Man, Jodi Ellen Malpas
He isn't called the LORD of the Manor for nothing!!!!
“No!” I push him away from me. “You’re not manipulating me with your delicious Godliness!” He grins that roguish grin. “You think I’m a God?” I huff, turning back to the mirror. His head is expanding at a rate so fast, I might be forced to jump out the bathroom window before I’m squashed against a wall.” Jesse and Ava -This Man, Jodi Ellen Malpas
When trying to save a woman from slavers, Sam screwed up. Royally. Now Linda wants nothing to do with him. Or with BDSM. She won't even admit she's a masochist. As a dominant and sadist, he can give her what she needs, and when an opportunity arises, he slips into her life, intending to make amends. She's everything he knew she would be…except for her bullheaded determination to be 'normal'.Now the horrible time is past, Linda just wants to return to her small conservative town, pick up her quiet life, and be normal. But how can someone who likes pain be 'normal'? To her dismay, when someone spray-paints her home with obscenities, Sam shows up to rescue her. Again. Doesn't he understand that the last thing she needs in her life is a sadist? He's amused by her objections. But his dry sense of humor doesn't disguise that he's tough as nails and dominant and stubborn. He's not going to let her drive him off this time. All too soon, she realizes she wants him to stay. When he takes her to the Shadowlands, she finds a new home…until she hears a voice from out of her nightmares.
Note:This book contains strong but consensual sadistic elements that may be uncomfortable for some readers.
Selena's Thoughts; I have said before that this is not my favored genre and BDSM something I don't read often. However, when I started this series I knew that I would continue reading until the very end. I have become vested in these characters and I HAVE to know what is going to happen with them all.
This book (Master Sam) was the one I think I was most nervous to read. Being that Sam is a sadist I was so concerned with the pain factor that I didn't think about what a kind and gentle man he can be. I am really happy with how it turned out. I found myself falling even more in love with Sam as the story went along. Linda is PERFECT for him and seeing their story come together was absolutely beautiful. Master Raoul is my favorite and I think for that reason his book To Command and Collar will remain my favorite in this series. But Master Sam certainly gave him a run for his money.
He looks at our hands locked together, suspended between our bodies. ‘I’m not letting you go,’ he murmurs sullenly. ‘If I let you go, you might forget how it feels. You might change your mind. -This Man, Jodi Ellen Malpas
